Got questions? Short on time?

Check out our answers to common questions below.

If I want to do a trial class or just watch a class, do I need to let you know before I show up?

A. We certainly would appreciate it. Honestly, everyone hates it when company shows up unannounced and your house is a mess. But less sarcastically, we like to know you're coming in case classes have been changed/added. Also, it helps us to guide you toward a class that will be aimed at your specific interests rather than an uneducated guess.  We've had people show up during an MMA class to see if this place would be a good fit for their 5 year old. Attending the wrong class won't help you to get a good fit for your child, and we pride ourselves on helping you make informed decisions about your martial arts!

What are the monthly costs at your gym?

A. In short, it depends on you and your work ethic. Adult monthly memberships cost anywhere from $80 - $100 + HST per month depending on how many classes you wish to take. Kids are $70 - $100 but our membership page explains our packages in detail...

Are there conditions or contracts I should be aware of?

Devils's in the details right? We hear ya. Here's our agreement: When you join up, you commit for a minimum of 3 months (you can pay up front or set up a monthly pre-auth agreement at no extra charge). You cover your annual insurance of $22 at signing (unless you choose our Platinum plan - then it's covered in your membership fees). Next, you promise not to go on a rampage inside or outside our gym and you promise not to show up with any communicable disease and we're all good. It's that simple.

Do you have specific classes for beginners?

No we don't. Generally speaking, it's unnecessary as we have all skill levels on the floor for every class. Don't worry, you'll never feel embarrassed for your novice skill level.  In fact, the vast majority of people on our floors are happy to work with beginners. They remember when they were new, and are happy to lend a hand. There's also a good contingent of new players just like you, so you'll always find a partner who will make you feel right at home. However, if you're a wild man who's been stacking skulls on the mats for the past several years, we have people here who would love to meet you too.

What should I bring on my first night?

All you would need to bring (regardless of class) would be a t-shirt, shorts and a sport water bottle. If you're taking a class normally taught in a gi (Jiu-Jitsu) if you have one, go ahead and wear it. If not, don't worry about it.

What time should I arrive?

The class times appear on our Schedule page. If you're coming in for a trial class, please arrive 10 minutes early to fill in a waiver & contact sheet but then you're good to go.  If you want to speed up the process, you can fill in the contact sheet prehand by clicking on our secure online form here!

What are the ages for the kids classes?

We accept kids as young as 5 in the kids classes. If your child is heading into their "tween" years (11 yrs & up) they may be happier in the adult Canadian Jiu-Jitsu class. The basic factors we guage in sending a kid to the children's class or adult class is their weight and strength. If your child weighs more than 110 pounds and/or can grab you around the waist and lift you then they'll likely be heading to the adult class. If not, they will head to the kids class. Obvioulsy there are individual circumstances to consider but those are a couple of basic guidelines.
